Permanent - Research engineer “MTDC grid protection” W/M
Description
Established in 2014, SuperGrid Institute is an independent private company with over 150 employees of 21 different nationalities. The institute is a key player for energy transition in France and throughout Europe, specialising in innovative high and medium voltage direct current (HVDC and MVDC) power systems. SuperGrid Institute also develops new technologies for the integration of renewable energies into the electricity networks of the future.
SuperGrid Institute has been ranked every year since 2018, reaching the podium 3 times in the INPI prize list.

Mission
General Context
SuperGrid Institute is working on the development of protection strategies for Multi Terminal DC (MTDC) networks as well as protection algorithms for fault line discrimination in order to develop a more efficient and reliable protection system.
In this context, several tools for analysing the performance of protection strategies have been proposed within the SuperGrid Institute. Through EMT simulations, techno-economic analysis and key performance indicators, it is possible to evaluate and propose optimised solutions to transmission network operators and HVDC equipment manufacturers.
Objectives / Missions
In collaboration with industrial and academic partners (Europe), you will carry out research activities, participate in working group meetings and be responsible for the deliverables.
You will participate in SuperGrid Institute's consultancy activities: analysing customer specifications, carrying out system studies, participating in customer technical meetings, monitoring the progress of projects, guaranteeing deadlines and quality of deliverables.
You will contribute to research activities related to the development of DC network control and protection systems:
Analyse and develop solutions for protection
Carry out simulations to validate the proposed solutions
Consolidate the studies and results
Write study reports
You will contribute to the valorisation/IP of the results and write scientific articles.
